Northwest Coast Salish Totem Pole
A most interesting large old Northwest Coast Quinault Salish Indian carved and painted totem pole dating from the early 1900's. The totem stands 35.5" tall. The totem is attributed to Chief Yelton who carved the famous totem in Tacoma, WA. The carving features interesting and unusual imagery, including a standing shaman figure at the top, a spread wing eagle, a human with a large mouth and ribbed decoration, a whale, hunters in a canoe and a double headed eagle grasping a fish, along with other forms and decorations. The condition is excellent with normal natural wear, and no restoration. The size is compelling. The wood is probably alder. From a Washington State collection.

Alaskan Yupik Ceremonial Feast Ladle
A fine and early (c. 1880) Yupik Eskimo Ceremonial Feast Ladle with red painted decorations and black painted fish design on the bowl. The ladle is quite large, yet delicately carved, paint decorated, and pleasingly graceful. It measures 18 1/2" long and 6 1/2" wide. It survives in very good condition with some nicks and a few small chips reglued on the front edge of the bowl. The natural pigments of red and black have mellowed with time. Traditionally the red pigment is made from ocher and seal blood, and the black from graphite. A fine, large high quality example. From a Washington State collection. Native American Cradle Board
Full Size Apache Indian Cradle Board. Nicely carved wood frame and back slats with separate woven wood and fabric hood. Fabric head rest, side covers and baby ties. Natural wood and yellow paint decoration. Inscribed on back of boards "Made by Effie Bona Bylas", probably c. 1930's. Very nice as used condition. Size is 33" long, 11" wide, hood is 13" high.

North American Large Indian Basket
Very large (18 5/8" diameter) and beautifully woven Indian basket with interesting subtle decorative designs created with a combination of multi-color material and physical weaving patterns that create the circular bands and 4 diamond shaped rays emanating from the center. The basket is woven over coiled wood (probably willow branch) which make the basket quite strong and rigid. It is tightly woven and in excellent condition. The size is 18 5/8" diameter, and 3 1/4" tall. Early 20th C.

Cherokee Indian Basket
Beautifully made Cherokee Indian Basket sitting on an applied integrated circular foot with 2 semi circular covers hinged with wooden pins to the arched handle. Decorated with contrasting colored splint. Great form, condition and construction execution. Probably from the mid 20th C. with a nice mellow patina, From a Southern California collection. Size is 10" wide and 12" high to the top of the handle.
